Little Wandle: Letters and Sounds Revised

At Woodside Park School, we teach early reading through the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised programme. This is a Department for Education–approved systematic synthetic phonics approach that provides clear, structured progression in learning to read.
As a specialist SEN setting, we understand that every pupil learns differently. The Little Wandle framework gives us a consistent structure while allowing the flexibility to adapt teaching to meet individual needs. Sessions are carefully planned and delivered at a pace that is right for each child.
Phonics is taught 1:1 and in small groups using consistent routines and resources. New sounds are introduced step by step, with regular opportunities to revisit and practice previous learning so that pupils can build confidence and retain knowledge over time.
Further information for families can be found on the Little Wandle website.
